Poetry and Prose

Students have the opportunity to participate in Tulare County Office of Education’s Poetry and Prose Competition or The Peach Blossom Festival held every year at Fresno State.

Spelling Bee

Students are also given the opportunity to compete on the school spelling bee team.  The Palo Verde team competes against students from other local rural schools.  Students also compete in the National Spelling Bee trials.

Science Olympiad

The Science Olympiad coach organizes and selects students’ grades 6-8 to compete in Science Olympiad events. The team competes in a local competition in the spring and has a chance to participate in further competitions if the team places in the local competition.

Math Super Bowl

The junior high math teacher organizes and coaches a Math Super Bowl team each year.  Students learn problem-solving techniques and then compete against other math teams across the county.
